Upper Scioto Valley and Waynesfield-Goshen are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Rams will take on the Tigers in a tournament on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Upper Scioto Valley has four straight victories, Waynesfield-Goshen has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Upper Scioto Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Cory-Rawson with a sharp 22-9 win on Saturday. With that victory, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Upper Scioto Valley let Wyatt Davis and Mason Thompson run wild. Davis got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI, while Thompson went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five runs gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Sanders, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Upper Scioto Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Waynesfield-Goshen nor Spencerville made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Tigers came up short against the Bearcats, falling 8-2.
Waynesfield-Goshen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jhett Siebeneck, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Waynesfield-Goshen's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Upper Scioto Valley, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Upper Scioto Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Waynesfield-Goshen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
