After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lenoir City, Midway was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Oakdale Eagles by a score of 13-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Green Wave's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lorelai Langley was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiersten Ruffner, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Midway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakdale only posted a batting average of .250.
Midway's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-13. As for Oakdale, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midway will welcome Loudon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakdale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clarkrange at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
