The Rincon/University Rangers will challenge the Desert View Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert View took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Rincon/University, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with 13 losses in a row, Rincon/University turned things around against South Mountain on Monday. They never let the Jaguars get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Rangers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Dylan Beaudot was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rincon/University let Marciella Castillo and Sophia Castillo run wild. Marciella went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Sophia got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Marciella is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Anitza Dessens, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Rincon/University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Mountain only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Desert View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 13-1 to Cienega.
Desert View saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rikki Romero, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Rincon/University's record is now 3-16. As for Desert View, they now have a losing record of 13-14.
Rincon/University's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Rangers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Desert View, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Rincon/University continue to outrun the ball?
Rincon/University might still be hurting after the 14-1 loss they got from Desert View in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Rangers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
