The Duchesne Eagles will square off against the Ridgeline Riverhawks at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Duchesne took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Altamont with a sharp 19-7 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Duchesne let Prezley Farnsworth and Kira Grant run wild. Farnsworth got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Grant went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Grant has posted over her last 12 games. Another player making a difference was Breklyn Skewes, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Duchesne hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 14 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Ridgeline made easy work of Stansbury on Tuesday and carried off a 12-2 win. The Riverhawks have beaten the Stallions the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Stallions has come to flipping the script.
Ridgeline got a massive performance out of Jaylee Jensen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Stella Boehme was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.
Duchesne's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Ridgeline, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Duchesne has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ridgeline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
