The Briar Woods Falcons were the 61-58 winner over the Riverside Ram when they last played one another on January 8th, but their luck changed this time around. Briar Woods' rough 80-57 defeat to the Ram on Thursday might stick with them for a while. Briar Woods' defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, Briar Woods still got an impressive performance from Colton Auch, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Auch is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Miles, who scored seven points.
Riverside was led to victory by Max Lawson and Shane Crissman. Lawson scored 19 points along with five assists and three steals, while Crissman went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 0 assists. Crissman hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Mason Ridgeway, who scored nine points.
Briar Woods has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Riverside, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
Briar Woods will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Stone Bridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully the Falcons likes a good challenge. As for Riverside, they and the will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
