After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Richmond Christian, the St. Michael the Archangel Warriors were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 46-33 victory over Stafford.
St. Michael the Archangel was led to victory by Janaye Martinez and Anjalia Bryant . Martinez dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds, while Bryant scored 20 points along with four blocks and three steals. The matchup was Bryant 's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Walston, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
St. Michael the Archangel's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Stafford, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Michael the Archangel won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chancellor at 5:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Chancellor presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Michael the Archangel in Virginia (Chancellor is ranked 111th, while St. Michael the Archangel is ranked 223rd). Stafford will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chantilly at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
