Smidt Tech found their leader in underclassman Zachary Ignacio, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Aaron Merlos, who scored eight points.
Smidt Tech pushed their record up to 5-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Rise Kohyang, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smidt Tech will take on Alliance Bloomfield at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Alliance Bloomfield is ranked 1264th, while Smidt Tech is ranked 1253rd). Rise Kohyang will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on TREE Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 10, 2024.
