The Raceland Rams pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Russell by a score of 58-55. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Raceland in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now lost nine in a row.
Russell found their leader in underclassman Elijah Neel, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Tatum Fleming was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Raceland's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Russell, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.
Raceland's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Musketeers at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Greenup County and the Rams are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Russell, they and the Lions will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Boyd County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 26 matches -- so hopefully the Red Devils like a good challenge.
