The Hazel Park Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Sterling Heights Stallions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sterling Heights will be up against a hot Hazel Park squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Everything went the Vikings' way against Fitzgerald on Friday as they made off with a 16-4 win.
Kathryn Chappell (2026) was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, La'Onna Otis (2027) was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 contests. Another player making a difference was Camilla Polanco (2029), who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Hazel Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Sterling Heights came out on top against Eastpointe on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run third inning. The Stallions were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Shamrocks. The victory continues a trend for the Stallions in their matchups with the Shamrocks: they've now won seven in a row.
Hazel Park pushed their record up to 11-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Sterling Heights, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hazel Park has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sterling Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hazel Park took their victory against Sterling Heights in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 18-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
