The Miamisburg Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Centerville Elks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Miamisburg has given up an average of 14.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Miamisburg fell victim to Northmont and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 14-0 to the Thunderbolts. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Vikings' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Centerville got the win against Beavercreek on Friday by a conclusive 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Elks, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Caitlyn Belcher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Chayse Adkins and Shelby Cotterman did most of the damage at the plate: Adkins went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Cotterman went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Cotterman a new career-high. Natalie Carr was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.
Centerville lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beavercreek didn't launched any.
Centerville has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Miamisburg, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Miamisburg was able to grind out a solid win over Centerville in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 6-2. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Elks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
