The Trego Golden Eagles won the last time they faced the Ellis Railroaders, and things went their way on Saturday too. Trego walked away with a 49-42 victory over Ellis. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Trego.
Trego's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Smith, who scored 14 points along with five steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Makenna Flax was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Trego has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Ellis, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trego's road trip will continue as they head out to face Plainville at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Ellis, they will face off against Victoria at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Victoria will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Ellis is ranked 105th).
