The Valley Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Eaton 79-65. The win was all the more spectacular given Valley's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Eaton is ranked 108th).
Valley had a senior duo take command as Aidan Brownell dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten steals and Owen Peterson scored 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brownell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Caleb Dudley, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Eaton still got an impressive performance from Mitch Haythorn, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ely Madaleno, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Eaton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-14 record this season. As for Eaton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.
Valley will look to defend their home court on Thursday against University at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Eaton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Weld Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Weld Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.
