Baseball Game Preview: Willow Canyon Wildcats vs. Centennial Coyotes

Willow Canyon hasn't had much luck against Centennial recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Coyotes at 3:45 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Willow Canyon 4, Centennial 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Willow Canyon came out on top against Lake Havasu on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Wildcats walked away with a 6-2 win over the Knights.

KJ Kovaly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Willow Canyon let Cameron Davidson and Ethan Patrick run wild. Davidson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Patrick went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those three RBI gave Patrick a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Centennial unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Youngker by a score of 6-5.

Bobby Villa III made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one triple. David Daniels was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Willow Canyon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.
