Allie Schultz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Schultz, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Odalis Valerio was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Beech Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Indianapolis Bishop Chatard on Monday and fell 4-3. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Addison Corn made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Christel House pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for Beech Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13-1.
Beech Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Christel House has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game.
