St. Michael's extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 5 this week by beating Silver, 28-21. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Albuquerque Academy took down Santa Fe Indian 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
St. Michael's' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Horsemen feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cory Serna has thrown for 1227 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Salomon Martinez has 20 catches for 413 yards. Martinez leads the league in rushing with 311 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place St. Michael's takes on second place Albuquerque Academy. Last week, St. Michael's topped the Fighting Colts, while the Chargers beat the Braves.
Albuquerque Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,086 from 11,281. The advance stemmed from a 55-0 victory over Santa Fe Indian last week.
