Basketball Recap: Cheylin Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cheylin can now relate to. They were beaten by the Hodgeman County Longhorns 59-26 on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 63 points in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.

Cheylin's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Wright, who posted nine points. Wright is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Pablo Ruiz was another key player, putting up two points and five rebounds.

Hodgeman County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyson Younger, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 13 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Younger a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Hazen Rydquist, who went 7-for-15 to rack up 18 points and three steals.

Cheylin's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-11. As for Hodgeman County, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Cheylin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hodgeman County, they will head out to face off against Dighton at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dighton will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something Hodgeman County surely won't give up without a fight.
