The Notre Dame Regents will take on the South San Francisco Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Saturday just wasn't the day for Notre Dame's offense. They lost 12-0 to Ann Sobrato on Saturday.
Meanwhile, South San Francisco never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Castilleja as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Sydney Semans was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Shiloh Semans was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Liala Kinchen, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
South San Francisco was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
South San Francisco's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
South San Francisco's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Notre Dame has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South San Francisco, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Notre Dame keep running through batters, or will the Warriors buck the trend?
Notre Dame took their win against South San Francisco when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Regents have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
