Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Auburn Tigers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by the Red Devils 49-21 on Friday. Auburn's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
It was another big night for Andrew Alford, who threw for 429 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.1% of his passes for Central. Alford is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Central also got help from Daylyn Upshaw who showed off his sure hands for 139 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Auburn's QB won't forget Jaelen Southall anytime soon given Southall sacked him twice.
Auburn's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Central, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Auburn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Central will take on Mary G. Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Mary G. Montgomery: 8.7, Central: 12.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
