The Eagle Mountain Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Benbrook Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eagle Mountain is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Jacksboro hit Eagle Mountain with a four-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights fell 5-2 to the Tigers.
Ashlyn Eggleton put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Eggleton wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Benbrook duked it out with Dunbar last Monday. The Bobcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 21-0 shutout. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Eagle Mountain, Benbrook also got a great game from a two-way player: Madison Canada. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Canada was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mya Vasquez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Maddy Davila, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Benbrook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .781. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dunbar only posted an OBP of .182.
Benbrook is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eagle Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-13-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eagle Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Benbrook struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
