The Whale Branch Warriors lost against the Calhoun County Saints back in December of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Whale Branch took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calhoun County.
Defeat or not, Whale Branch got some senior leadership from Bradford Thompson who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds and Greggory Gilbert who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Thompson scored a full 39.2% of Whale Branch's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Whale Branch now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Calhoun County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Whale Branch won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hunter-Kinard-Tyler at 12:30 p.m. on December 28th. Calhoun County and Denmark-Olar will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Denmark-Olar's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
