Colin Harrison was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Coy James was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Potts, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Even though they lost, Davie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lake Norman was able to grind out a solid victory over West Cabarrus on Friday, taking the game 6-1.
Lake Norman let Carson Beaver and Noah Jacobsen run wild. Beaver went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI, while Jacobsen scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That triple marked the first that Beaver hit this season.
Davie's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lake Norman, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Davie has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lake Norman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Davie might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Lake Norman in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Can Davie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
