Basketball Recap: North River Christian's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

North River Christian easily dispatched Banks Academy back in December of 2024, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The North River Christian Chargers fell just short of the Tuscaloosa Home Educators Warriors by a score of 36-33 on Thursday. The Chargers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 33-30.

North River Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alayna Fuller, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 12 points and five steals. That's the most points Fuller has posted since back in December of 2023. Halle Burch was another key player, putting up six points along with 13 boards and eight assists.

Tuscaloosa Home Educators got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Layken Horton out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Horton is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lydia Duncan, who went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points.

North River Christian's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for Tuscaloosa Home Educators, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5.

North River Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tuscaloosa Home Educators has also already played their next game, a 46-25 win against Evangel Christian on the 14th.
