Basketball Recap: Millard South Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Millard South and Omaha North faced off in a cross-town battle on Friday. The Millard South Patriots took down the Omaha North Vikings 83-68. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 68-60 victory the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Millard South got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Albert out in front who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points. The dominant performance gave Albert a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Koby Meyers, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Millard South was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha North only racked up nine assists.

Jerri'On Williams and Ban Yor certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Williams went 9 of 20 on his way to 19 points and six steals, while Yor went 8 of 17 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. The game was Williams' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dontae Mcdowell, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Millard South pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Omaha North, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-6.

Millard South won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pius X at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Millard South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.2 points per game this season. As for Omaha North, they will take on Gretna at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
