It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Omaha Westside Warriors ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 74-70 win over Creighton Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Omaha Westside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rickey Loftin, who shot 5-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Loftin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Stubblefield, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Creighton Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dillon Claussen, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Claussen is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Carson Jones, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Omaha Westside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Creighton Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-5.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Millard South the next time they take the court. Creighton Prep will host Millard South at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, while Omaha Westside will host them at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
