White Pine hasn't had much luck against Needles recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bobcats will square off against the Mustangs at 12:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
White Pine is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Yerington a 14-0 shutout. The Bobcats have beaten the Lions the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lions has come to flipping the script.

Gianna Sedlacek was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other pitching news, Paige Hayward looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Camden Johnson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Derbidge, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three runs.
White Pine lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Needles waltzed into their contest on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Bighorns.
Peyton Jackson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Emmerson Powell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
White Pine's victory bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Needles, their win bumped their record up to 25-6.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. White Pine has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Needles struggles in that department as they've averaged .491. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
White Pine suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Needles in their previous matchup on Saturday. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
