The Canterbury Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Neumann. While losing is never fun, Canterbury can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 643rd, while Neumann is ranked 308th).
Canterbury lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josh Benbenisty, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Benbenisty also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Kyle Scharlau, who scored 14 points.
Canterbury's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Neumann, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canterbury and Bonita Springs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bonita Springs comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Neumann, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Gateway Charter at 7:00 p.m.
