Meanwhile, Haines City suffered a rough 70-45 defeat at the hands of Winter Haven on Wednesday. Haines City has not had much luck with Winter Haven recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Haines City saw an underclassman step up: Zebrelle Canaday scored 19 points. Canaday hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikeyla Hill, who scored 11 points.
Mater Brighton Lakes Academy's defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.6 points per game. As for Haines City, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.
Mater Brighton Lakes Academy took a serious blow against Haines City in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 73-13.
