If the Circle Christian Centurions were feeling good off their 60-35 takedown of the Elite Prep Academy Eagles last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Circle Christian ended up on the wrong side of a tough 77-51 walloping at the hands of Winter Springs on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Circle Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 599th, while Winter Springs is ranked 224th).
Circle Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Connor Lion and Lucas Valdes. Lion scored 23 points along with eight rebounds, while Valdes scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lion has scored all season.
Circle Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Winter Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Circle Christian's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Winter Springs, Winter Springs and Lake Mary Prep will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
