The Jefferson Cougars put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Parkside 77-43 on the road. Considering Jefferson has won five matches by more than 25 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jefferson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quintin Goins, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Goins scored 15 or more points. Kylan Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Parkside's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Semaj Marshall, who scored ten points. The match was Marshall's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Thomas, who scored seven points.
Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Parkside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Jefferson will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against West Philadelphia at 3:15 p.m. on December 30, 2023. West Philadelphia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 356th in Pennsylvania, while Jefferson is ranked sixth in West Virginia). As for Parkside, they will be playing at home against Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
