Arvada scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 67-55 to the Platte Canyon Huskies. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 57-45 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Arvada lost, don't look at Deymian Than. Despite the final result, he posted 20 points and three steals. That was a full 36.4% of Arvada's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Henderson, who put up 14 points and four steals.

Platte Canyon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trevor Kirklin led the charge by going 11 of 17 on his way to 22 points and four steals. The game was Kirklin's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Tanner, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards.

Arvada dropped their record down to 0-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Platte Canyon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Arvada will look to defend their home court on Monday against Lake County at 7:00 p.m. Arvada is facing Lake County at the right time seeing as Lake County is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Platte Canyon, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-59 defeat against Denver Christian on the 11th.
