It was a good run, but the Covenant Classical Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of South Charlotte T by a score of 49-46.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacie Kirwin, who scored 19 points. That was a full 41.3% of Covenant Classical's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ava Gromis was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
South Charlotte T was led to victory by Bella Aitchison and Ryleigh Graves. Aitchison scored 20 points along with five rebounds, while Graves dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. Aitchison continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Reeves, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Covenant Classical's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3. As for South Charlotte T, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covenant Classical will play host again and welcome Varsity Opponent, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Charlotte T, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Legion Collegiate Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Legion Collegiate Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Charlotte T in their respective states (Legion Collegiate Academy is ranked 107th in South Carolina, while South Charlotte T is ranked 490th in North Carolina).
