The Clermont Northeastern Rockets will square off against the Miami Valley Christian Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Clermont Northeastern didn't have quite enough to beat East Clinton and fell 3-2. The Rockets have struggled against the Astros recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Clermont Northeastern actually scored more points across those five sets (102-90), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 6-25, 15-9.
Meanwhile, Miami Valley Christian Academy entered their tilt with Varsity Opponent on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past Varsity Opponent 3-0.
Miami Valley Christian Academy's win came from a few key players Clermont Northeastern will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Charlotte Strouble, who had five digs and four aces. What's more, she posted three assists, the most she's had since back in August.
Miami Valley Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces every time they've taken the court this season.
Clermont Northeastern's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Miami Valley Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Clermont Northeastern suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Miami Valley Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2021. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
