The Twin Valley South Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Arcanum Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Twin Valley South is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Twin Valley South suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 59-37 walloping at the hands of Preble Shawnee. Twin Valley South has not had much luck with Preble Shawnee recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jace Thuma, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jandon Ankrom, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Arcanum was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 57-52 to Dayton Christian. Arcanum has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Landon Flatter, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rylan Murray, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Twin Valley South bumped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Arcanum, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Twin Valley South have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Arcanum, though, as they've been averaging only 23.2 rebounds per game. Given Twin Valley South's sizeable advantage in that area, Arcanum will need to find a way to close that gap.
Twin Valley South ended up a good deal behind Arcanum in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, losing 48-32. Can Twin Valley South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
