Mission Valley recap October 22, 2013
Washington was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Mission Valley. Earlier in the week, the Huskies defeated Moreau Catholic 40-0.
Washington extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Mariners, 40-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Irvington's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jack Shank threw for 170 and 4 touchdowns and Daniel Gusev had 97 yards receiving. On the ground Jared Lozoya chipped in 162 yards. Chauncey Jones helped Irvington's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 41 yards.
Gusev was the best receiver in the league this week as the Vikings defeated Kennedy. Gusev racked up 3 receptions for 97 yards. Jones helped Irvington's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 41 yards.
Irvington's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Vikings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Shank has thrown for 533 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Gusev has 18 catches for 323 yards.
An important game coming up in Mission Valley this week will be when American takes on Newark Memorial. The Eagles are currently in first, while the Cougars are in third.
Irvington moved up to 530 from 561 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Zachary Silvernale's team was able to move up by defeating the Titans 48-27.
