The Shorewood Stormrays will head out on the road to face off against the Archbishop Murphy Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shorewood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Archbishop Murphy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Redmond hit Shorewood with a four-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Stormrays lost 8-2 to the Mustangs. The Stormrays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Archbishop Murphy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Shorecrest with a sharp 27-14 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Scots: they've now won six in a row.
Ari Dixon spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and ten unearned) runs on 15 hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Archbishop Murphy let Carly Madhavan and Sarah Fletcher run wild. Madhavan fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-7, while Fletcher went 5-for-7 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave Fletcher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Giselle Silva, who got on base in four of her seven plate appearances with five runs, two RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Archbishop Murphy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 28 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.
Archbishop Murphy's record is now 5-2. As for Shorewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Shorewood beat Archbishop Murphy 10-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stormrays since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
