The Maine West Warriors will challenge the Evanston Wildkits at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Maine West has six straight wins, Evanston has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Maine West took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Maine South, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Saturday. The Warriors' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matches.

Not much got past KAITLYN MARSH, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Maine South off the board. MARSH has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, KARA LINDENMUTH was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Maine West hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maine South struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Evanston came up short against Glenbard East on Saturday, falling 9-2.
Evanston saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delila Liston, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Evanston's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Maine West, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Evanston's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Maine West has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Evanston, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will Maine West keep running through batters, or will the Wildkits buck the trend?
Maine West skirted past Evanston 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Wildkits have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
