Baseball Recap: Delavan-Darien Wins Going Away Against Whitewater

While Delavan-Darien put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Whitewater. The Comets were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Whippets. The victory continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Whippets: they've now won five in a row.

Kevin O'Grady made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. O'Grady was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Delavan-Darien: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joel Janssen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Delavan-Darien is undefeated when Janssen posts two or more runs, but 2-4-1 otherwise. Braedyn McKean was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Delavan-Darien always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitewater only posted an OBP of .263.

Delavan-Darien pushed their record up to 6-4-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
