Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Borden

Borden waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Loogootee Lions 8-2. Considering the Braves have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Brady Peine looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayden Gardner, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael McVoy, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Borden pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Loogootee, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14-1.

Coincidentally, Borden and Loogootee will both be playing Trinity Lutheran the next time they take the field. The Braves will head out to face the Cougars at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Lions will play them later in the day, at 4:15 p.m.
