The Ada Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a hard 47-28 fall against Fort Gibson. While losing is never fun, Ada can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Fort Gibson is ranked 23rd).
Ada's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadie Epps, who scored five points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Rylynn Truett, who scored eight points.
Ada has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Fort Gibson, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-4.
Ada will be playing in front of their home fans against Seminole at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ada is coming into the matchup with four straight defeats at home, meaning Seminole will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Fort Gibson, they will head out on the road to take on Verdigris at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Verdigris is coming into the contest with six straight victories at home, so Fort Gibson is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
