Chapin has gone 9-1 against Burges recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Huskies will take on the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Burges will be up against a hot Chapin team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Huskies never let Andress get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Friday.
Khloe Jensen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Jaedyne Armendariz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Alyssa Pena was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Chapin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Andress only posted an OBP of .214.
Meanwhile, Burges was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over El Paso. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Tigers on their field since April 19, 2022.
Valeria Sanchez was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Antonella Ulloa, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Chapin's record now sits at 20-6. As for Burges, their record is now 14-11.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chapin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .523. However, it's not like Burges struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Chapin's way against Burges in their previous matchup back in February, as Chapin made off with a 15-9 win. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
