The Rockledge Raiders fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Titusville by a score of 42-29 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Rockledge also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Leading Rockledge to victory were Makaiya Watkins and Jaida Williams-Goins. Watkins scored 13 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Williams-Goins scored 15 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. Williams-Goins has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalia Christian, who scored no points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Titusville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedie Sanders, who scored eight points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Snyla Hill, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Rockledge's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Titusville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Rockledge on the road again on Wednesday and play against Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Titusville, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Melbourne Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Melbourne Central Catholic's defense has only allowed 27.1 points per game this season, so Titusville's offense will have their work cut out for them.
