The Peoria Panthers came tearing into Wednesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Cactus, posting a 59-13 win on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Peoria has managed all season.
Peoria was led to victory by Harmony Re and Michelle Kogbara. Re scored 15 points along with five steals, while Kogbara dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Kogbara's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Cieraka Lynch was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Peoria's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Cactus, they bumped their record down to 3-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Peoria will take on Goldwater at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Goldwater will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Peoria is ranked 85th). Cactus won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Estrella Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Hopefully Estrella Foothills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
