The Laurel Spartans were the 59-57 winner over the DuVal Tigers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Laurel fell 50-40 to DuVal on Thursday. Laurel just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
DuVal was led to victory by Precious Ntitebem and Eliah Mcclain. Ntitebem dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Mcclain dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mcclain has scored at least a third of DuVal's points.
Laurel's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for DuVal, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Laurel on the road again on Tuesday and play against High Point on January 30th. As for DuVal, they will take on Wise at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wise will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
