Basketball Recap: Floydada Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ralls

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Floydada). They blew past the Ralls Jackrabbits 94-54 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Whirlwinds also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Floydada's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braun Hobbs led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 26 points, 13 boards, and 14 assists. Hobbs' evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Sergio Valadez was another key player, going 11 of 23 on his way to 28 points and three steals.

Floydada smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Floydada is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Ralls, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floydada will host Post at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Floydada knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Post likes a good challenge. As for Ralls, they will challenge New Home at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Home will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Ralls surely won't give up without a fight.
