After flying high against Carl Hayden Community last Thursday, Greenway came back down to earth. The Greenway Demons were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 27-26 to the Youngker Roughriders. The Demons lost against the Roughriders in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 59-33 score last time.
Several Demons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Mcnally, who threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Carlos Toscano helped Mcnally out on the ground, rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown, while also picking up 36 receiving yards.
Eric Luis went supernova for Youngker, rushing for 84 yards and three touchdowns. Jairis Shaw did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards.
Greenway's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Youngker, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
As of now, neither Greenway nor Youngker have any future games scheduled.
