Highlands Ranch pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fairview.
Despite the loss, Highlands Ranch got a solid performance out of Payton TerEick, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane El Bassuni, who scored 7 points along with 3 steals and 3 blocks.
Meanwhile, Monarch suffered a rough 66-41 defeat at the hands of Cherokee Trail on Friday.
Highlands Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Monarch, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Highlands Ranch didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Monarch in their previous meeting back in February of 2016, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory.
