After flying high against the Holly Springs Hawks last Friday, the North Panola Cougars came back down to earth. North Panola fell 62-50 to Grenada on Tuesday. North Panola lost against Grenada in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 53-17 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grenada to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauren Harges, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Harges has scored at least 25% of Grenada's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlei Brown, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
North Panola's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Grenada, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
North Panola will take on Holmes County Central in a holiday battle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at. Holmes County Central is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. Grenada will be home for the holidays to greet Winona at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Winona will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Grenada is ranked 87th).
