Richfield is 2-8 against Mackay since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Richfield Tigers will be home for the holidays to greet the Mackay Miners at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Richfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday.
On Thursday, Richfield didn't have too much trouble with Wendell at home as they won 38-22. The squad ran away with 29 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
Kasey Hendren was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Richfield's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Jones, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mackay unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 54-36 fall against Dietrich. While losing is never fun, Mackay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Dietrich is ranked third).
The win makes it two in a row for Richfield and bumps their season record up to 6-3. As for Mackay, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.
Richfield ended up a good deal behind Mackay in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, losing 43-25. Will Richfield have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
