Emery/Weiner will be playing at home against the Giddings Lonestar Southeast Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Emery/Weiner had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 60-8 win over Incarnate Word Academy. Winning may never get old, but Emery/Weiner sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Emery/Weiner's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Zac Laviage, who gained 192 total yards and three touchdowns, and Bennett Grossman, who rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Laviage was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 60 yards.
Meanwhile, Giddings Lonestar Southeast entered their tilt with Texas School for the Deaf with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Giddings Lonestar Southeast beat Texas School for the Deaf on Saturday by the very same score they won with last week: 57-10.
Their wins bumped Emery/Weiner to 9-1 and Giddings Lonestar Southeast to 9-3.
Everything came up roses for Emery/Weiner against Giddings Lonestar Southeast in their previous matchup back in October as the team secured a 76-36 win. Does Emery/Weiner have another victory up their sleeve, or will Giddings Lonestar Southeast turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
