Even though the Carrboro Jaguars have not done well against the East Chapel Hill Wildcats recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Carrboro came out on top against East Chapel Hill by a score of 34-27. The win made it back-to-back wins for Carrboro.
Carrboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Summer Lee led the charge by scoring 9 points along with 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. That makes it two consecutive games in which Lee has scored at least 25% of Carrboro's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Spang, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds.
Despite the loss, East Chapel Hill still got an impressive performance from Abigail Stone, who scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Stone scored a full 63% of East Chapel Hill's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
East Chapel Hill struggled to work together and finished the game with only a assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Carrboro racked up nine.
Carrboro's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for East Chapel Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carrboro will take on NCSSM: Durham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully NCSSM: Durham focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday. As for East Chapel Hill, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cedar Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on November 30th.
